Ahead of the Independence Day 2024 celebrations at the Red Fort, a full dress rehearsal took place in the national capital today, Tuesday. The rehearsal showcased the enthusiasm of the soldiers.
During the ceremony, flower petals were showered from military helicopters during the flag hoisting.
Due to the rehearsal, traffic around the Red Fort will be impacted today. In response, Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory.
The rehearsal ceremony also featured NCC cadets displaying the “Viksit Bharat 2047” message.
Soldiers were seen stationed at the Red Fort’s ramparts during the rehearsal.
According to traffic police, major roads like Lothian Road and Netaji Subhash Marg will remain closed from 4 AM to 11 AM on Tuesday. Delhi Police has urged people to plan their routes accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

It’s worth noting that this year, the nation is set to celebrate its 78th Independence Day on August 15, marking the historic day in 1947 when India gained freedom from British rule.
Traffic Restrictions at Delhi Borders
In preparation for the Independence Day celebrations, traffic diversions have been implemented at the borders of the national capital from Monday, and heavy transport vehicles are prohibited from entering the city.
As per the advisory issued by the police, traffic diversions will be effective at Delhi’s borders. From 10 PM on Monday to 12 PM on Tuesday, and again from 10 PM on Thursday to 12 PM on Friday, no heavy vehicles will be allowed to enter the city.
The police have urged essential service providers to stock up on necessary items like oxygen cylinders in advance to avoid any difficulties during this period.
