PTI, Washington:
After President Joe Biden exited the presidential race, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris launched her first campaign rally, taking a sharp aim at Donald Trump. She criticized Trump for relying on the support of billionaires and large corporations, contrasting it with the Democratic campaign, which she described as driven by the people.
Addressing her first rally as the Democratic presidential candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris did not hold back in her criticism of the former president. She stated, “Trump depends on the support of billionaires and big companies, while the Democratic campaign is powered by the people.”
Trump’s Reliance on Billionaires and Big Companies
Speaking in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 59-year-old Harris said, “Donald Trump is trading access for campaign donations, relying on the backing of billionaires and large corporations. Just a few months ago, you all saw him at Mar-a-Lago, literally promising big oil companies and lobbyists that he would solicit $1 billion in campaign donations for their support.”
Harris held her first campaign rally less than 50 hours after President Joe Biden announced his exit from the presidential race. She highlighted the grassroots nature of the Democratic campaign, celebrating their best 24-hour fundraising period in presidential campaign history. “Because our campaign is people-driven, you know we will prioritize the needs of the people,” she said.

“Trump Wants to Take the Country Backward”
Harris accused Trump of wanting to take the country backwards, criticizing his intentions to give tax breaks to billionaires and large companies while making working families bear the financial burden. “America has tried these failed economic policies before, but we will not go back,” she asserted.
In her speech, Harris reiterated the Democratic Party’s commitment to a people-centred campaign and governance, emphasizing their focus on building a forward-looking and inclusive America.
