A tragic bus accident occurred early Friday morning when a bus carrying tourists from Kathmandu to Pokhara veered off course and plunged into the Marsyangdi River in Tanahun District, Nepal. The bus, booked through Kesarwani Travels in Gorakhpur, was transporting 42 tourists from Maharashtra. Reports indicate that all passengers are presumed to have been swept away by the river, with 14 bodies recovered so far.

The bus, which was en route from Pokhara to Kathmandu, fell into a ravine near Mukhlispur. The vehicle was one of two buses and a traveler booked by Charu, who arranged the trip at Kesarwani Travels’ office near Tarang Chowk in Gorakhpur. The tourists, initially from Maharashtra, traveled through various destinations including Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Ayodhya, and Lumbini before reaching Pokhara. They were heading to Kathmandu when the accident occurred.
The driver, identified as Murtuja alias Mustafa from Pipraich, Bhagwanpur (Turwa) in Gorakhpur, along with 14 passengers, has been reported dead. The district police office in Tanahun confirmed the accident and ongoing rescue efforts.
Rescue and Recovery:
According to DSP Deep Kumar Rai from the district police office, the bus with registration number UP FT 7623 was on the Pokhara-Mugling road when it lost control and fell into the Marsyangdi River. Nepal Police and rescue teams have reached the accident site to assist in recovery operations. The bus is reported to have been arranged by a Gorakhpur travel agency.
