Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, marking the Crown Prince’s first official visit to India. The visit focuses on strengthening India-UAE ties across key sectors such as trade, technology, and energy.
The meeting began with a warm embrace, followed by bilateral discussions aimed at deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UAE. This partnership has expanded in recent years, covering areas like investment, connectivity, education, and culture.
Upon arrival, Sheikh Khaled was greeted by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal and received a ceremonial welcome. He also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by laying a wreath at Rajghat.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the visit as “a new milestone in a historic relationship” on X, emphasizing the strengthening bond between the two countries.
During his two-day visit (September 9-10), the Crown Prince will meet President Droupadi Murmu and attend a business forum in Mumbai to enhance economic collaboration between the nations.
Earlier this year, PM Modi visited the UAE and held discussions with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, where they signed eight agreements. A significant agreement was the MoU to establish an intergovernmental framework for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), promoting regional connectivity.
PM Modi also inaugurated the BAPS Mandir, the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, during his February visit, where he addressed the Indian diaspora at the ‘Ahlan Modi’ event.
