Thackeray went on to say, “Balasaheb Thackeray used to criticize Rajiv Gandhi harshly, but the ED and CBI never came to our house. Rajiv Gandhi never engaged in politics driven by a desire for revenge.” Referring to the steps Rajiv Gandhi took to combat extremism in Punjab and Northeast India, Thackeray added, “Rajiv Gandhi never shied away from challenges and faced them courageously. However, the current attitude seems to be ‘let Manipur and Kashmir burn.’
